Summer fun…

In spite of the constant rainy weather throughout the summer, SCA still managed to have some fun. The Schuylkill River Sojourn, for the fifth year, came through town in early June. Even though the sojourners felt like drowned river rats throughout the majority of the week, the skies cleared up long enough for a paddle on the canal. Everyone had a great time at Lock 60.

The sun shined down on Lock 60 all day long on Canal Day 2003, June 29th. Visitors came from near and far to participate in a day full of fun. The day began with the Schuylkill River Trail Run and ended with our perennial favorite, the Canal Joust. Thanks to our sponsors and local community merchants SCA’s yearly community fundraiser was a huge success.

This summer Upper Providence Township’s Park & Recreation Committee and SCA partnered together to start a “Music in the Park” program that was enjoyed by many. On four different occasions concerts or musical events were held throughout the summer. The Lukens Band joined SCA on one of those pleasant summer evenings at Lock 60. The weather was perfect and the Schuylkill River provided a beautiful backdrop to the melodious sounds.
