The Locktender’s House Exterior Restoration Completed:

SCA wishes to thank Bubby & Lenore Weiss for their generous donation to offset the expense of this beautifully landscaped entrance to the Locktender’s House. It makes visitors feel welcomed.
Bob Craig, from Bob Craig Landscape & Design, added the finishing touches to the exterior restoration work that was completed this past May.

The Forebay Tributary Improvements Project Completed:
The collapsed storm water culvert at the forebay tributary; May 2003
Midway through the project as the reconstruction of the guard wall is taking shape, July 2003.

This restoration project involved the reconstruction of the storm water culvert at the foot of the ravine stream that enters into the forebay. The culvert and towpath had been severely damaged four years ago during Tropical Storm Floyd. With each severe storm afterwards more damage occurred, further undermining the
entire area.

The work included the replacement of the storm water culvert pipe, the reconstruction of the towpath and guard wall and the creation of a channel that acts as a stream bypass and sediment trap during severe storm events. The construction began in May and was completed by early
September 2003.
