The following are general directions to get to Mont Clare from various locations:

From Montgomery County:

Heading east on PA Route 422 Bypass:
Take 422 East to the Phoenixville/Collegeville exit. At the bottom of the exit ramp go to the right, which will put you on Route 29 South. Follow Route 29 South for approximately 3 miles to Mont Clare and the traffic light at Produce Junction. Proceed through the traffic light and start over the bridge to Phoenixville, just as you go over the canal look to the right for the towpath road leading to Lock 60, a large green directional sign will indicate Lock 60 to the right. Make the right (off the bridge) and follow it to the end, about one mile, to Lock 60.

Heading south on PA Route 29 from the Collegeville area:
Follow Route 29 South to Mont Clare and the traffic light at Produce Junction. Proceed through the traffic light and start over the bridge to Phoenixville, just as you go over the canal look to the right for the towpath road leading to Lock 60, a large green directional sign will indicate Lock 60 to the right. Make the right (off the bridge) and follow it to the end, about one mile, to Lock 60.

Heading west on PA Route 422 Bypass:
Take 422 West to the Collegeville/Phoenixville exit. At the bottom of the exit ramp make a left on to PA Route 29 South. Follow Route 29 South for approximately 3 miles to Mont Clare and the traffic light at Produce Junction. Proceed through the traffic light and start over the bridge to Phoenixville, just as you go over the canal look to the right for the towpath road leading to Lock 60, a large green directional sign will indicate Lock 60 to the right. Make the right (off the bridge) and follow it to the end, about one mile, to Lock 60.

OR: Take PA Route 422 West to the Oaks exit. At the bottom of the exit ramp make a left on to Egypt Road heading west. Continue on Egypt Road through the village of Oaks into Mont Clare for approximately 5 miles to Bridge Street or PA Route 29 South (red blinking light). Make a left turn at the blinking light onto Route 29 South. Follow Route 29 South for approximately 3 miles to Mont Clare and the traffic light at Produce Junction. Proceed through the traffic light and start over the bridge to Phoenixville, just as you go over the canal look to the right for the towpath road leading to Lock 60, a large green directional sign will indicate Lock 60 to the right. Make the right (off the bridge) and follow it to the end, about one mile, to Lock 60.

From Chester County:

Heading north on PA Route 29
Pick-up PA Route 29 North as you travel through Phoenixville. Cross the Schuylkill River on the bridge leading from Phoenixville to Mont Clare. Just as you cross the river and are about to go over the canal, look to the left. A large directional green sign will indicate Lock 60 to the left. Take the left hand turn off the bridge onto the towpath and follow it to the end, about one mile, to Lock 60.

To get to the foot of the canal from Lock 60
At the traffic light in Mont Clare (at Produce Junction) make a right or left onto Walnut Street, depending on which direction you are coming from. Walnut Street turns into Port Providence Road about 1/2 mile down the road. Follow Port Providence Road about 1-1/2 miles. The road will bend to the left in two locations. You will see Smurfit Stone Corp. on the left and the canal on the right. The entrance to the lower end parking area is to the right of the third bend in the road.
